You know how some things just work.

And others are failures before they even get out of the box.

For the right business, Google Adwords can be like rocket fuel. It can take a company from a stage of having little or irrelevant traffic, to suddenly being hit with handfuls of qualified leads day in, day out.

Qualified because the targeting is based on keywords searched in Google. And this act in itself (making the effort to query something in Google) signifies intent that this person is in the market for what you’re selling. If you can get in front of that person at the right time, you’re in business.

I have seen so much success with Google Adwords that I decided that Hooked On Marketing needed to get the Google Partner Badge. This was, perhaps, 2 years ago!

One thing I’ve found out since is that getting this badge is no mean feat. Hours (no, make that weeks) of study, and the prospect of hitting start on two timed exams where the pass rate is 80%.


And then, of course, you’ve got to meet the other criteria:

1. Have a completed Google Partners profile
2. Have one person in the company fully qualified in Google Adwords to demonstrate advanced knowledge – that’s me!
3. Manage a minimum spend of USD $10,000 within a 90 day period.
4. Meet Google’s performance requirement by delivering strong company revenue and growth through Google Adwords.

So you need to be actively managing accounts with significant budgets and getting good results to get a look in for the Badge.


What does this mean for you?

It means that if you’re looking to hire someone to do Google Adwords for your business:
1. You know that Google endorses me as qualified according to their criteria.
2. You won’t need to worry that you’re hiring someone who promises the earth and doesn’t deliver. The Google Badge eliminates these folk.
3. You can rest assured I know what I’m doing!

Well, here we are. Hooked On Marketing now has the Google Partner Badge and it’s an achievement that I’m exceptionally proud of. Small steps, over time, amount to big things (and all of that jazz).
